Learning Categories

Just like last summer, we will continue to incorporate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) into our program! Our children will channel their inner artists, sculptors, engineers, authors, and more! We will cook, learn new sports, and explore our interests in STEAM throughout the summer! Themed activities include, but are not limited to:

ART

This summer, we will learn about new techniques for our art and learn about artists to inspire us! We will learn about Picasso, Alma Woodsey Thomas, weaving, point perspective drawing, and more throughout the summer! We will present our artwork at the end of the year with an art show!

ACTIVE LEARNING

This summer, we will be active throughout the summer! We will learn the fundamentals of a variety of sports, from rugby to foot golf to basketball. Our in-house curriculum focuses on not just play, but learning the skills, rules, and techniques of the sports. We will visit parks, indoor gyms, and turf fields!

FOOD

Food can take many forms and we will learn about many of them this summer! We will cook, garden, and garnish as we learn about food from farm to table. We will grow vegetables, make our own food, and decorate treats as we become master chefs and learn how our food ends up on our table.

MAKERSPACE

Few things are as exciting or rewarding as creating something yourself! Children will channel their inner Einstein, Galileo, and Marie Curie throughout the summer. We will learn about famous scientists and engineers before building, designing, and redesigning our own creations! We will explore the science behind buoyancy, wind, gravity, and more. To test these concepts, we will build boats, windsocks, egg drops, and more!

Writing & Theater

This summer, we learn about different areas of creative writing in a fun, creative way! No worksheets or homework! We will come up with the most creative answers for writing prompts, learn about poetry, find the best captions to pictures for prizes, and create our own scripts! In addition, we will partner with a local theater teaching artist, Michael Rogers, to learn about improv, story boards, stages, and more!
